Card Design Studio

Greetings Bespoke lines Archive editions

Every card at George CardFred LLC begins as a blank sheet on a drafting bench, never as a downloaded template. Our design studio pairs a verse with paper and ink so the message, the grain and the fold carry the same voice. A designer drafts, another reader proof-reads every word aloud, and the finished art locks in an edition number before a plate is ever cut.

The studio is organised around three tracks so a shop can buy with confidence:

  • Core annual lines: twelve greetings that release each January for birthdays, thanks, sympathy, cheer and everyday notes.
  • Open archive editions: deep seasonal series that return every few years with fresh palette treatments.
  • Bespoke retail lines: a fully drawn series made only for your account so no competing shelf carries the same art.

Bespoke work starts with a creative brief call, moves to three hand-drawn roughs, and finishes with a soft proof forwarded for your approval before the sheet enters the press bed.

Short-Run Press Printing

Letterpress Runs of 50 to 5000 Flat or folded

Because the press lives in our own building, we welcome runs that a large plant would turn away. A boutique can order fifty cards for a private dinner or five hundred for a store rack and receive the same careful plate work and the same true colour as a run in the thousands. The platen holds a full impression bed, so line and block artwork presses deep into cotton stock every sheet.

  • Minimum production run of fifty units with no long pre-order lead.
  • Dedicated foil head and letterpress rolls kept clean between jobs.
  • A hard proof printed on the same stock before the run begins.
  • Full trim, fold and pack done in house so the carton never waits on another vendor.

Short runs let you test a market without betting a season on it. When an edition sells out, re-running takes three to five working days so you can restock while demand is still warm.

Invitation Suites

Weddings Reply cards Liner systems

An invitation sets the temperature of the whole event, so we design the invitation, its envelope liner, the reply card, a direction card and a thank-you note as a single family. George CardFred LLC holds one palette and one paper weight across the set, which keeps the guest opening each piece with the same pleasant surprise.

  • Invitation with matching reply, direction and thank-you card.
  • Envelope liner printed in your accent and matched to the press.
  • Foil or letterpress names, monograms and venue details.
  • Wrap, belly band and wax-free tissue options for a full set.

We mail or deliver every suite in a rigid box with quantities separated by table count, so your event team can address and post without unwrapping a jumble.

Foil & Letterpress Finishes

Gold foil Blind impression Die-cut edges

Finish decides whether a card feels worthy of a mantelpiece. Our letterpress rolls press a blind impression into cotton fibre, our foil heads lay metallic detail flat and sealed, and our guillotine and die tools cut clean edges and shaped windows. A publisher can mix all three on one sheet when the treatment calls for it.

  • Gold, silver, rose and matte metallic foils matched to your brand.
  • Deep letterpress texture that holds through years in a drawer.
  • Die-cut cards, scalloped edges, windows and pop-up shapes.
  • Matching finish on resume cards, bookplates and small labels.

Send us a worn or recycled specimen and we will tell you honestly which finish it used and whether the method suits your order. No two printers read a finish the same way, so we always show a physical sample before you commit colour to the run.

Stationery Fulfilment

Notes & letterhead Business cards Desk sets

Stationery is the quiet ambassador of a practice or brand. We design monogram notes, letterhead, calling cards and desk trays as a coherent system, press them in coordinated finishes and box them with tissue so a professional opens their first carton exactly the way a client will receive the finished note inside.

  • Monogram notes and folio sheets in cotton and linen laid stocks.
  • Letterhead and envelope sets matched by weight and grain.
  • Flat business cards with clean emboss and deep impression.
  • Desk sets with blotter, tray and pencil case in one palette.

Fulfilment is handled in house: sets are collated, tissue-wrapped and posted with a liner-matched envelope so a finished pack loses nothing from the moment it is pressed to the moment it reaches the door.

Wholesale Card Racks

Display systems Edition restock Seasonal holds

For independent paper shops, a profitable card wall needs clean stock and easy reordering. George CardFred LLC supplies display-ready wire and wooden rack systems sized to fit a doorway, a counter or a full wall, and backs each rack with edition-number ordering so the shelf stays filled with best-sellers rather than dead paper.

  • Wire spinner racks and counter stands ready to merchandise.
  • Wall grids and floor rack units assembled on delivery.
  • Edition-number restocking and automatic best-seller refills.
  • Holds for seasonal closures so the store never over-orders.

Shops buy wholesale, mark to retail and reorder by list. We walk new accounts through margin and turn figures on a first call so a rack pays for itself inside its first folder of the month.

A shared promise across all six offers: draw it true, prove it on real stock, press it in house, fold it square and seal taste before the box ships.

How a run is guided

Every order follows the same guarded route so nothing is left to luck. The route below applies to a standard short run from the moment your brief lands until the carton reaches your counter.

One · Brief

You send counts, paper taste, finish and verses. We confirm edition and schedule on the same call, with no obligation to type.

Two · Draft

The studio draws roughs and sets text, then shows two directions and recommends one by voice and saleability.

Three · Proof

A hard proof prints on the actual stock so you approve true colour and deep impression before we set up.

Four · Press

Plates lock, stock loads and the full run prints with a mid-run stop to guard the colour against drift.

Five · Finish

Trim, maybe die-cut and fold happen in the press room so edges stay sharp and creases stay square.

Six · Dispatch

Cards tissue and box by order, labelled by edition and posted under a tracked carrier to your shelf.
